How to Keep Your Skin Looking Youthful

The largest organ in your body is actually not on the inside. Your skin needs cared for just as you would any other organ you possess. The difference is that you can care for your skin through watching what you put on your skin, as well as what you put in your body.

Exterior Care

The first thing to caring for your skin is to know what type of skin you have. Most people have either dry or oily skin, but some will have a combination of both of them. If you are not particularly sensitive to chemicals, then you have normal skin. Knowing what skin type you have is imperative to proper care and maintenance for your skin. For example, you will want to use a different cleanser and toner for oily skin than if you have dry skin. Some cleansers are designed to dry skin out, while others are made with hypoallergenic products to prevent rashes.

In addition to knowing your skin type, you will want to make sure that you do not over clean your skin, as it will strip all of the oils from your pores that are protecting you. You should wash your face twice a day, in the morning with just water and in the evening with a cleanser that will gently remove makeup.

Once a week, you should also exfoliate your skin. This is done by using a cleanser that has small rough particles that will take off the outer layer of skin, which leads you looking and feeling more youthful.

Make sure you also apply moisturizer a couple times a day. You want one in the morning that has a UV blocker in it, and then one at night that helps tighten and rejuvenate.

Interior Care

In addition to cleaning your skin properly, you will want to review your lifestyle choices. Make sure you drink plenty of water and eat a lot of fresh food. This includes increasing the number of natural vitamins you take, such as Vitamin B, Omega-3, and Vitamin A. Smoking and alcohol are also detrimental to the health of your skin. Finally, never go anywhere without applying sunscreen or lotion with SPF 30 or higher.

There are many homemade recipes you can try for creating masks, exfoliants, and cleansers. However, it is just important to take care of your body inside and out if you want to look as youthful as possible. To experience skin rejuvenation, contact your dermatologist.
